Acal BFi

Acal BFi is a technology solutions provider for electronic applications, with offices across Europe. It has worked in advanced electronics for more than 50 years. It helps customers turn ideas and designs into finished products.

The company follows an approach it calls consult, design and integrate. First its engineers learn the customer's needs. Then they design or change components, or combine standard parts into one solution. Last, they bring together the technology, parts and teams, and support the product through its life. More than 150 engineers work on this, and the company has over 360 staff in total.

Its portfolio covers interconnect, sensors, communications, photonics, imaging, magnetic components, power supplies, test and measurement, fibre optics and embedded computing. The embedded range includes single board computers, rugged systems and avionics systems. Fibre optic products include ruggedised interconnects for harsh environments. It works with makers of these products and adds its own design, manufacturing and supply chain skills.

For harder projects, the company runs technology centres for embedded computing, fibre optics, imaging, interconnect and cable assembly, IoT and wireless, magnetic products and power supplies. The Magnetic Products Technology Centre is near Frankfurt in Germany. Ten engineers and specialists there work on custom transformers, inductors, chokes and coils for power uses between 5 and 200 kHz and 1 W to 100 kW. The centre also makes magnetic cores. Its facilities are ISO 9001 certified.

Acal BFi focuses on renewable energy, transportation, medical, industrial and connectivity markets. Its customers include original equipment manufacturers, enterprises, small and medium businesses, research institutes and government agencies.

The company has a presence in 12 locations across Europe. They include sites in Belgium, Germany, Denmark, Spain, Finland, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and the UK. It also has three logistics centres, in Germany, the UK and Hong Kong. Each country has its own sales and technical support team.
