About Avtrain

Avtrain is a drone training and consultancy company in Dublin, Ireland, that trains and certifies drone pilots and operators who fly under EASA rules.

The company is an Irish Aviation Authority Recognised Entity, so all EASA member states recognise its certification. Its instructors and flight examiners are aviation professionals with years of experience in manned and unmanned flying. They have worked as airline pilots, drone operators and industry consultants. Avtrain offers online courses and live instructor-led training.

Courses cover all three EASA drone categories: Open, Specific and Certified. There is a free introductory course on the rules for drone pilots and operators. For the Open category, Avtrain teaches the A1, A3 and A2 subcategories. The company also runs a blended learning course for pilots who need to fly in controlled airspace or carry out higher risk work. Specific category training covers STS, PDRA and SORA 2.5 routes. Endorsement courses cover night flying, flying over people, beyond visual line of sight operations and low-altitude flying.

Avtrain also advises businesses and public bodies that want to bring drones into daily work. Its consultancy covers audits of drone fleets and stations, business strategy, cost and benefit studies, and reviews of operations manuals and risks. It also offers help to write an operations manual. The company provides technical and practical training so that teams can run drone operations themselves. It also runs an airspace map that shows where drones can and cannot be flown.

Its clients include the Irish Coast Guard, Civil Defence, Cyberhawk, South Dublin, Irish Water, Shannon, UCD, Inland Fisheries Ireland, DSPCA, MyHelis and RTE.

The company has grown beyond Ireland. In August 2026 it announced a new UK office in Bristol. It supports UK operators as well as operators in EASA states. It is a partner in the AIRMOB project, a EUR 3.983 million European effort to build air mobility skills across five countries. It has also worked with ANRA Technologies on a SORA automation tool for the UK market.
