About LYTE Aviation

LYTE Aviation is developing a hybrid hydrogen-electric VTOL aircraft. The LA-44 platform is meant to carry up to 40 passengers or 4.5 tonnes of cargo with no runway. The company calls it the first heavyweight aircraft of its kind.

The LA-44 is planned to fly 1,000 km on electric cruise power. It needs just 50 metres to take off and land. That opens up helipads, rooftops and open spaces as places to depart from and arrive at. LYTE says the platform is five times more efficient than a helicopter.

LYTE plans one aircraft for three missions. SkyBus is a 40 seat aircraft for passenger mass transit within cities, between cities and across regions. SkyTruck carries 4.5 tonnes of cargo door to door for last mile and regional freight. SkyClinic is an emergency medical aircraft, described as a flying hospital that can land where it is needed with no infrastructure.

The company says its team began turning its vision into engineering six years ago. It is in the concept design phase. The team includes people who have built and certified aircraft. In April 2026 eVTOL Insights reported that LYTE secured a conditional purchase worth 500 million euros for SkyClinic aircraft. Aviation Week and Simple Flying also wrote about the company in 2023.

LYTE lists more than 20 partners in the aviation industry. They include Cranfield University, H3 Dynamics, Inmarsat, Amros Global, Lange Aviation, Inflight Canada, Twente Airport, Uniwastec, Volatus, KookieJar, Bluenest Globalvia, Crisalion Mobility, the AAM Institute and Vman Aviation. The company has pages for investors, careers, news and frequently asked questions.
