The company was founded in Florida in 1992 as International Air Safety Office, and it was renamed Aviation Registry Group in 2000. Its headquarters are in Miami, Florida.

The company operates the Registry of Aruba, which it has run since 1995. It also operates the San Marino Aircraft Registry, which it has run since 2012, and the Gibraltar Aircraft Registry, which it has run since 2022. The company says the Aruba and San Marino registries have achieved U.S. FAA Category 1 status.
