About Aviation Glass

AviationGlass and Technology B.V. makes AeroGlass, a thin, lightweight laminated glass designed for aircraft interiors. The company's postal and visiting address is in Voorthuizen, the Netherlands. Its site says the idea began with a request for a glass staircase in an aircraft that proved too heavy, which led the founders to look for a lighter glass. The company says it has about 25 years of experience.

Products

  • AeroGlass mirrors, including integrated lighting mirrors
  • AeroGlass screens, for example for inflight entertainment displays
  • AeroGlass dividers
  • 15 product lines, which the company says are used on 9 aircraft platforms, for commercial and business aircraft

Why glass instead of polycarbonate

The company says real glass resists scratches and stays clear, is easy to clean and weighs little. It contrasts this with carbon and polycarbonate screens that scratch over time.

  • Tests listed include ball impact, abuse load, vertical burn at 12 and 60 seconds, bending and scratch resistance
