Professional association for electromagnetic warfare
About Association of Old Crows
The Association of Old Crows (AOC) is a professional association for the electromagnetic warfare community. It is based in Alexandria, Virginia, in the United States. It has more than 12,000 members around the world, and it speaks up for the electromagnetic warfare enterprise.
AOC publishes the Journal of Electromagnetic Dominance and runs an industry news site and podcasts. Its website also holds a product showcase, a defense resource guide, an electromagnetic warfare glossary and a recommended reading list. The association has an advocacy program and a career center with featured jobs.
Events are a large part of its work. The Annual Convention and Symposium takes place each year, and the 2026 edition runs from 8 to 10 December at National Harbor, Maryland. AOC also holds summits, including Collaborative EW in April 2027 and the Cyber Electromagnetic Activity summit in May 2027 in Laurel, Maryland. It runs regional events as AOC Europe and AOC Asia, and local chapters hold their own events.
The association offers education and professional development. It runs live and on-demand webinars and courses. Topics include GPS and GNSS jamming and spoofing, digital radio frequency memory technology, cognitive electronic warfare, low-SWaP multifunctional RF systems and the history of spectrum use. It also has an introductory course on electromagnetic warfare for people who are not engineers. The AOC Operational Readiness Program is part of its training offer.
The AOC Educational Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. It awards scholarships and grants to military enlisted personnel and to US undergraduate students in engineering, physics, mathematics and related fields. It also supports STEM education about the electromagnetic spectrum for middle and high school students. Its scholarships include a STEM Student of the Year award and the From Service to Scholar scholarship, which gives five awards of US$2,000 a year to students who use the GI Bill.
Individuals can join as members. Companies can join through a partner program or a group membership, which brings added visibility and benefits. Companies can also sponsor events, exhibit at them or advertise in the association's media. The association runs an online store with merchandise and history books.
