Ambrell

Ambrell makes induction heating systems and equipment, with its main office in Rochester, New York, United States. It also has offices in the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. Its systems range from 500 watts to 1000 kW, with several frequency options, workhead choices and accessories.

Ambrell sells two product lines. EASYHEAT power supplies run from 500 W to 10 kW at 150 to 400 kHz. They give a compact, repeatable and non-contact way to heat smaller parts or to heat the surface of a part. Examples include fastener heating, brazing and soldering.

EKOHEAT power supplies run from 10 kW to 1000 kW across four frequency ranges. They deliver heat deeper into larger workpieces at higher power. Examples include forging, hardening and brazing of larger parts. The line uses what Ambrell calls its Versatile Performance Architecture, which it describes as a first in the induction heating industry.

Each system includes a workhead. The heater changes mains power into a higher frequency current. A cable carries it to the workhead, which holds a bank of capacitors and a work coil. This sets up an electromagnetic field in the coil that delivers energy to the part. EASYHEAT workheads run in series resonance, and EKOHEAT workheads run in parallel resonance.

Ambrell lists many heating processes. They include aluminum brazing, annealing, atmosphere controlled brazing, bonding, brazing, curing, forging, hardening, heat staking, melting, shrink fitting, soldering and susceptor heating. Others include fastener manufacturing, medical device manufacturing, material testing and metal-to-glass sealing.
