About Altus AERO KFT

Altus AERO KFT is a Hungarian maker of the Altus touring motorglider. The company builds a low wing aircraft with a 15 meter wingspan. Its office and final assembly site is in Tótvázsony, Hungary.

The Altus story began in 2014. The team worked with Omikron Dokk Kft. to build a low wing aircraft with good visibility and a roomy cabin. ECon Engineering Kft. helped with airflow simulations and structure calculations. The aircraft received its permit to fly at the end of 2017 and left the ground for the first time in May 2018.

The site says the aircraft has flown over 800 hours and set five FAI world records. One record flight used 43 liters of fuel for 1037 km. The company states a cruise speed of 200 km/h, a range of 1600 km and a take off run of 150 m. Useful load is 230 kg and luggage space is 50 kg.

Safety and ease of use are part of the design. A ballistic rescue parachute is standard equipment. The fuel selector is linked to the engine start system, so the engine cannot start with the fuel valve closed. The avionics can be set from the control stick, and the autopilot can follow routes planned on a phone. The throttle and the airbrake share one lever.

Altus holds a German Type Certificate under the DULV 600 kg rules. New wings were built for higher loads and speed, and the cabin is slightly larger. The Altus ST was nominated for the Flieger Magazin Award 2026 in the new ultralight aircraft category. Krisztian Dolhai is named as the designer of the concept. He is a multiple FAI world record holder.

The website offers a demo flight booking, a brochure download and a contact form for test flight requests.
