Akila

Akila is a Canadian software company that makes a safety management system (SMS) and airport operations platform for aviation. It is sold as software as a service. Airlines, regional airports and airport groups use it to manage safety and day-to-day work.

Akila came from a partnership between two Canadian firms. Octant Aviation is an air transport consulting firm in Montreal. It works in audit, advisory and service management for airports and air carriers. Uzinakod is a software company that builds secure, modern web applications. Octant brought the aviation know-how, and Uzinakod built the platform.

The software covers the main parts of SMS and operations management. These include incident reports, corrective actions, inspections, risk analyses and quality assurance tracking. It also offers follow-up and analysis tools. Teams can see their data in real time, and storage is unlimited. The platform follows international aviation safety standards from ICAO.

Akila is set up quickly and has an easy interface. Airport teams can work on a computer or on a mobile device. The company says the goal is to help standardise processes, save time and replace spreadsheets and paper.
