About Airtel ATN

Airtel ATN is an Irish company based in Dun Laoghaire, near Dublin, that supplies air traffic management telecommunication software and test equipment. Its main field is data link: the messaging between aircraft and air traffic control. It sells to air navigation service providers (ANSPs), communication service providers, avionics manufacturers and maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) organisations. The company says it began as a telecommunications business and moved into aeronautical telecommunications in 1998.

Products and services

  • Air/Ground Data Link Server (AGDLS) for air traffic control centres, supporting Context Management and CPDLC over both ATN and FANS networks
  • Airborne ATN Router, ICAO Doc 9880 compliant, delivered as portable source code with a DO-178C Level D compatible documentation package
  • Ground Manual Test software that emulates a ground ATC data link system, so avionics can be tested in a lab or on an aircraft
  • Operational monitoring and test tools for ANSPs and communication service providers
  • An ADS-C server product aimed at the European CP1 mandate

Customers and markets

The company says it is active in more than 35 countries and that its software enables around 13,000 aircraft to connect to the ATC network. It also says about 60 percent of European ANSPs use its software. Avionics customers named on its site include Airbus, Collins Aerospace, Honeywell, Garmin, GE Aviation and Boeing.
