Airborne Technologies
Special mission aircraft integration and EASA certification
About Airborne Technologies
Airborne Technologies is an Austrian company based in Wiener Neustadt. It designs, integrates and certifies special mission equipment for helicopters, fixed wing aircraft and unmanned aerial vehicles. The company says it turns general aviation aircraft into special mission platforms.
The company handles each project from design and engineering through production, installation, testing and EASA certification. It is approved by EASA as a Part 21 Design and Production Organisation and as a Part 145 Maintenance Organisation. This allows it to certify airframe modifications without approvals from the original manufacturer.
The website says the company has developed more than 100 STCs and completed over 300 aircraft changes. It has its own fleet of aircraft and sensors and a special mission demonstrator aircraft, which gives it hands on experience with its clients.
Services begin with client consultation. The team manages requirements development, on site surveys, live demonstrations and feasibility studies. It also offers mechanical and system design, including software, and it assists with equipment selection and designs a mission suite for each client.
Manufacturing is done in house. The company produces carbon fibre parts, radomes, electrical components, cable harnesses and metal components under one roof. Installation can take place at its facility or at the customer's site. Testing, quality assurance and export management are also part of the service.
The mission solutions range includes SCAR Pod systems, workstations, mission management units, camera lifts, brackets and radomes. The Airborne LINX mission system connects and controls sensors and can be installed in different ways. The company says it is supplier agnostic and works with many established sensor and communication manufacturers.
Missions include search and rescue, aerial surveying, airborne law enforcement, maritime patrol, and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance. The company also invites visitors to UNEX 2027, an ISR event in Wiener Neustadt on 21 and 22 April 2027, with live demonstrations and technology showcases.
