AIMPLAS

AIMPLAS is a plastics technology centre in Paterna, near Valencia, Spain. It serves companies across the plastics value chain, from raw material makers to processors and end users. It reports more than 35 years of experience.

The centre has more than 270 professionals, more than 3,500 customers and more than 900 member companies. In 2025 it ran 307 R&D&I projects, 9,165 technology services and 225 training activities. Its facilities cover over 12,000 square metres and include more than 50 pilot plants for thermoplastic, thermoset and composite processing.

AIMPLAS runs research and development projects, helps manage grants and supports technology transfer. Its technology areas include injection moulding, extrusion, compounding, composites, 3D printing, coatings, adhesives, recycling, biotechnology and catalysis. Its themes include circular economy, climate neutrality, sustainable mobility, packaging, Industry 4.0 and advanced materials.

Its laboratories are accredited under UNE-EN ISO/IEC 17025. Tests cover ageing and climate, fire, fatigue, vibration and resistance to chemicals. They also cover migration, food contact, microplastics, recycled materials, biodegradability and compostability, and packaging performance. The centre also handles approvals and certifications for recycled content, reuse and compostability.

AIMPLAS lists aeronautics and aerospace among its markets, alongside packaging, agriculture, raw materials, automotive and transport, security and defence, recycling and construction. For product makers it offers design and development, simulation of plastic part behaviour, ecodesign, life cycle assessment, failure analysis and expert reports.

It also gives technical and legal advice on rules such as REACH and CLP, food contact, microplastics and extended producer responsibility. It offers training courses, competitive intelligence and digital tools for the plastics industry.

The centre holds ISO 9001 quality, ISO 14001 environment, ISO 45001 safety and ISO 27001 information security certificates. It lists many awards for sustainability and good practice.
