Aeronova

Aeronova is a young Russian company in Moscow that develops, builds and operates airships. These are lighter-than-air aircraft. Its mission is to bring such aircraft into the modern economy and widen what people think of as transport.

The company says its goal is to create modern airships that open new options for industry, logistics, research and other fields. Its work is meant to cover a wide range. This includes stratospheric balloons, light drones, rigid cargo airships and controlled high-altitude platforms.

Aeronova has three named projects. NOVA-01 is in the testing stage. NOVA-2 is in development. NOVA-8 is in design. The company calls NOVA-2 the largest airship in Russia. It has a volume of 2,000 cubic metres, a payload of 500 kilograms and a range of 500 kilometres. The first version will be electric and unmanned. The company has also shown test footage of an airship called Aerolet-01.

The company makes airship envelopes in its own production line. In 2026, it reported progress on NOVA-2. In September, the balloon segment tests were completed successfully. In October, the company ran tests of the air-gas system. It also took part in the RUBAE-2026 exhibition. Aeronova says it is looking for a site for an airfield.

Aeronova holds a licence from the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade to work in aviation technology. The licence covers aeronautical aircraft, including research and development, and the creation of design and technical documents. It has no end date and has been valid since 1 April 2026.

The team has more than 45 professionals. They have many years of experience in aircraft building. The group includes academy members, PhD holders and professors, as well as younger engineers. Its design leaders have worked on airships for Russian and foreign projects for decades.
