ZeroAvia
Hydrogen-electric aircraft engine developer with an office in Pasadena, California
About ZeroAvia
ZeroAvia develops hydrogen-electric power and propulsion systems for civil and defence aircraft. The company was founded in 2018. Its US location is in Everett, Washington, and its UK location is at Cotswold Airport in Kemble, England.
The product range includes the ZA200, a 200 kW fuel cell power generation system for propulsion and onboard power. The ZA600 is a hydrogen-electric powertrain for 10 to 20 seat regional aircraft. The site also lists next generation high temperature PEM fuel cells and liquid hydrogen storage systems.
For civil aviation, the site says hydrogen-electric propulsion can lower operating costs and emissions. It names quieter flight and extended range as benefits. For defence use, the site names endurance, reduced signatures and mission power. It also lists rotorcraft, trainer and uncrewed markets.
The site describes several milestones. In 2019 a six seat aircraft made a zero emission flight in the US. In 2020 the company raised about $40 million in a Series A round. In 2022 it completed a Series B with an additional $35 million, and it bought the fuel cell firm HyPoint.
The 2026 news items on the site include a new chief executive, Christine Ourmieres-Widener, announced on 27 August 2026. They also include a partnership with Safran on hydrogen-electric technologies and a collaboration with Marshall Aerospace on defence platforms. In April 2026 the FAA published special conditions for the 600 kW electric engine.
The site has a contact page for partnership and technology enquiries. It also lists a newsroom, a media kit, careers and a flight testing page. The company has accounts on LinkedIn, X, Instagram, Facebook and YouTube.
