Worley Consulting

Worley Consulting is the advisory part of Worley, an engineering and project delivery group that works with energy, chemicals and resources customers. The company has a presence in Australia. Its consulting work covers the full life of an asset, from the first idea to the end of use.

Worley Consulting lists five main service areas. These are planning and investment, capital project support, optimise, repurpose and decommission, digital solutions, and environment and sustainability consulting. Worley says it does not only advise. It also delivers, from concept to design and across the whole asset lifecycle.

The wider group offers full project delivery. This means engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning, and operational readiness, in the form of EPC or EPCM projects. Worley says it delivered more than 300 EPC and EPCM projects out of over 28,200 projects worldwide between FY21 and FY26. It also supports operations and maintenance.

Engineering services span concept studies, pre-FEED, FEED and detailed engineering. They also include field engineering, construction and commissioning support, decommissioning, restoration and advanced analysis studies. Worley uses data-centric methods, including digital twins and immersive design reviews.

The group works in four main industries. Chemicals and fuels covers chemicals, low carbon fuels, refining, plastics recycling and sustainable aviation fuel. Conventional energy covers carbon capture, decommissioning, integrated gas, midstream energy and oil. Low carbon energy covers hydrogen, nuclear power, energy storage, renewable energy, power networks and data centres. Resources covers aluminium, battery materials, copper, iron ore, precious metals and water.

Worley also uses its own engineering approach, called SEAL, which it developed in 2007 to help prevent major safety and environmental incidents. It says more than 2,000 sustainable solutions approved through SEAL have cut carbon dioxide by over 450 million tonnes. Project examples include work at Oyu Tolgoi for Rio Tinto and gas supply infrastructure in Germany. The group is listed on the ASX.
