About Worldwide Aircraft Services
Worldwide Aircraft Recovery started in Rockford, Illinois in 1987. The company began after the founder transported a small aircraft from the Rockford Airport in an enclosed trailer. From that single request, a full service aircraft relocation company was born. The business quickly built a name for moving both civilian and military aircraft.
In 1996, the team completed a major project relocating the Strategic Air Command museum to its own facility. Following that success, the company moved its headquarters to Bellevue, Nebraska. From 1987 to 2023, the company successfully relocated thousands of civilian and military aircraft across the country and around the world.
The company disassembles, transports, and reassembles aircraft worldwide. It is the only aircraft recovery company that performs all phases of relocation in house. The same individuals who disassemble an aircraft are the ones who transport and reassemble it. This approach ensures continuity and care through every step of the move.
Services include aircraft disassembly and reassembly, protective packaging and ground transport, overseas relocation coordination, and pylon or pedestal display mounting. The team can mount aircraft on ground static stands, pylons, or ceiling suspensions. For overseas moves, the company coordinates with shipping companies and then sends its own team to reassemble the aircraft at the destination.
The team has worked with aircraft of all eras and sizes. Projects have included vintage aircraft such as the Douglas World Cruiser and modern jets including F-15s, B-1, and X-35JSF. The company has also moved F-16s, C-17s, six A-12s, and eight SR-71s. One of those SR-71s is suspended from a museum ceiling in Richmond, Virginia.
The company serves warbird owners, museum collections, and military customers. Relocated aircraft are used for city projects, civilian museums, military gate guards, and military trainers. The team has worked with over 600 organizations. Every aircraft is treated with care and respect because of the history it carries.
