Vietnam Airlines

Vietnam Airlines is the flag carrier of Vietnam, headquartered in Hanoi. It was founded in January 1956 when the Civil Aviation Authority was established by the Government of Vietnam, with a first fleet of five propeller aircraft (IL-14, AN-2 and Aero 45). Its first domestic flight started in September 1956.

The airline's fleet page lists four aircraft families:

• Airbus A321, including the A321neo (first delivered in November 2018)

Services

Vietnam Airlines operates domestic routes between Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Da Nang and other cities, plus international services and cargo. It sells Business, Premium Economy and Economy cabins and runs the Lotusmiles frequent flyer programme.

Milestones

• 1993: established as the flag carrier and launched scheduled flights to Europe
• 2006: joined IATA
• 2010: became the 10th member of SkyTeam
• July 2015: the first airline in Asia and the second in the world to receive and operate both the Airbus A350-900 and Boeing 787-9
• July 2016: certified as a 4-star airline by Skytrax
• September 2023: awarded Five-Star Global Airline certification by APEX
• July 2025: welcomed its 350 millionth passenger

• Operates as a joint stock company since 1 April 2015
• Listed on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange under HVN since May 2019
