Van Halteren Technologies

Van Halteren Technologies is a Dutch engineering and manufacturing group based in Bunschoten, the Netherlands, supplying products and services to armed forces and industry. The company was founded in 1969 as Van Halteren Metaal by Aart van Halteren, a technical professions teacher, making specialised metal products for local industries. His son-in-law Izaak Veerman joined in 1972 to expand the business commercially.

Army products and services

• Howitzer crew trainers: developed from 1990 with the Dutch Ministry of Defence in response to a lack of training areas, rising ammunition costs and the need for time-efficient training. The trainers simulate real conditions so crews can practise operating howitzers without live ammunition, and can be tailored to specific equipment and scenarios.
• Simulated ammunition: non-lethal training rounds that replicate live rounds, with the ARES ammunition recognition system recording fuse settings, shell and charge type and orientation and matching the system's response, including misfire and recoil
• NBC and CBRN filter systems
• Road wheels for military tracked vehicles, a division born from a substantial contract in the 1970s
• Maintenance, repair and overhaul, upgrades and spare parts for army equipment

History

The 1980s and early 1990s brought expansion, with several Dutch and international companies added to the group and larger premises. The first orders for howitzer crew trainers were placed in the 1990s, and the company has continued to develop training systems since. Its site says it creates everything from exclusive one-off solutions to off-the-shelf products, an approach it has followed since the beginning.
