About ULPower Aero Engines

ULPower Aero Engines is a Belgian manufacturer of piston engines for light aircraft, based at Zonnebeekseweg 379 in Ieper, West Flanders. Its engines are developed specifically for light aviation and built with fully electronic ignition and multi-point fuel injection (FADEC) as standard, in a conventional air-cooled, direct-drive, horizontally opposed layout with four or six cylinders. Under the slogan more power, less weight, ULPower offers dual electronic ignition with variable timing, a high power-to-weight ratio and fuel efficiency on both avgas and mogas, including mixtures with up to 15 percent ethanol, with full aerobatic and helicopter configurations available.

Engine range

  • UL260 series: four cylinders, 97 to 107 hp, 72.3 kg
  • UL350 series: four cylinders, 118 to 150 hp, 78.4 kg, a heavy-duty engine for two or four seat aircraft
  • UL390 series: six cylinders, 140 to 160 hp, 101 kg
  • UL520 series: six cylinders, 180 to 220 hp, 108 to 122 kg, developed from 2015 as a lightweight equivalent to traditional engines, offered in UL520i, UL520iS, UL520iSA aerobatic and reversed-rotation versions, with the turbocharged UL520T added in 2021

Ownership and support

  • Single-lever FADEC control that reduces pilot workload to selecting the desired power setting, with almost all sensors factory installed and a plug-and-play RS232 or CAN bus connection from the ECU to a compatible EFIS
  • Interactive installation and maintenance guides and the free ULread diagnostic software, allowing owners to carry out line maintenance themselves with no heavy maintenance required before overhaul
  • A three-year warranty from invoice for new non-aerobatic, normally aspirated engines with unlimited hours up to the 1,500 hour TBO; in 2025 ULPower extended the TBO of naturally aspirated engines from serial number 250,000 to 2,000 hours or 12 years and doubled the UL520T warranty to two years or 1,500 hours
  • Installation kits, propeller flanges, spare parts including oil coolers, fuel system fittings and stainless steel exhausts, STEP files, manuals, service bulletins and an FAQ, with a worldwide dealer network

News

Recent updates include revised engine manuals released in June 2026, service bulletin SB-ULP-2026-001 on the rectifier-regulator 30A connector, an unboxing feature on the UL350iS and the fourth ULPower Fly-In held at Porta Westfalica in Germany in September 2025.
