Tower Metalworking Fluids

Tower Metalworking Fluids is an employee-owned Chicago manufacturer of metalworking lubricants, coolants, rust preventives and cleaners, based at 4300 South Tripp Avenue and founded in 1933 by Al Simon Sr. as a seller of motor and industrial lubricating oils. For more than 90 years the company has developed fluids for machining and metal forming, and its products are custom-formulated for automotive, aerospace, defence, appliance, medical and heavy equipment manufacturers, with field sales engineers and product specialists providing hands-on technical support.

Products

• Towercool and Saf-T-Cool metal removal coolants, including a premium line with Clean Fluid and Green Fluid technology launched in 2013 and a value line added in 2020
• Towerkem product lines formulated in 2016 specifically for machining processes in the aerospace industry, and the Towers MG series for magnesium machining introduced in 2018, removing the need for volatile straight oils
• Towersol, Towerkem, Klenedraw, TowerPro and TowerDraw drawing and stamping lubricants, tube and pipe gels and synthetic forming fluids
• Saf-T-Vanish vanishing compounds, introduced in 2008 as a zero-VOC technology for employee safety, made with non-hazardous ingredients, plus rust preventives and cleaners

History

• Expanded in the 1940s and 1950s into machine lubricants, cutting oils and hydraulic fluids, and in the 1960s into premium metal stamping lubricants
• Entered metal removal in the 1990s with the Towercool machining coolant and became an employee-owned company (ESOP) in 1994
• Began doing business as Tower Metalworking Fluids in 2017 as a full-service provider of premium metalworking fluids
• Committed in 2022 to renewable-resource Green Fluid and Clean Fluid products for safer, environmentally responsible manufacturing
