SpaceLocker
Hosted payload missions to any orbit through a universal interface
About SpaceLocker
SpaceLocker is a French space company offering universal payload hosting, flying customer payloads to any orbit on host spacecraft that it buys, adapts and operates. Based in the industrial space ecosystem of the Toulouse region, with a Paris office hosted by the deep-tech incubator Agoranov, the company's aim is to let customers build their payload while it takes care of the rest, adapting host satellites to carry more than one payload for faster, more cost-efficient and more sustainable missions and moving the space industry, as it puts it, from the era of customisation to that of industrialisation.
Hosting options
- Shared satellites bought, adapted and fully operated by SpaceLocker for hosting quality
- Orbital transfer vehicles, presented as the most reactive way to reach space for short and less constrained missions
- Constellations of sensors deployed through payload hosting without launching dedicated satellites
- Large, mostly geostationary, satellites giving access to performance otherwise out of reach, with longer mission preparation
- Space stations and crewed vehicles able to host pressurised or unpressurised payloads, with Earth return on request
Service
- A universal interface compared to a space USB port, retro-compatible with CubeSat standards, so any payload type can be plugged in and controlled directly in orbit
- An open payload development framework with hardware and software elements, a partner network covering assembly, testing and legal processes, and launches with established launch providers
- Ready-to-fly missions boarding in under eight months, cutting time to space by half or more, with the option of launch-ready payloads for standard missions
- Flexibility on the ground to switch flight dates, enlarge the payload envelope, change orbit or fly multiple payloads, and in orbit to add power, downlink, onboard processing or precise pointing
- Flights on reliable, manoeuvrable spacecraft rather than nanosatellites, to limit debris and uncontrolled re-entries
Company
SpaceLocker argues that while launch costs have fallen with companies such as SpaceX and Rocket Lab, satellites are still conceived one mission at a time, and that a shared orbital economy is the answer. An advisory board of industry experts guides the executive team, and partner logos on the site include Agoranov, Astech and Blast. In 2025 the French indoor positioning start-up Wheere chose SpaceLocker to carry its first demonstration mission into low Earth orbit ahead of a planned positioning, navigation and timing constellation.
