SkyRecon LLC
Portable ADS-B receiver with built-in CO detector for GA pilots
About SkyRecon
SkyRecon LLC makes a portable ADS-B receiver for general aviation pilots. The device is marked as coming in 2026. It is made for student pilots, private pilots and flying clubs. It shows live traffic on a small cockpit screen and has a built-in carbon monoxide sensor.
The receiver picks up two ADS-B bands, 1090 MHz and 978 MHz. It also adds more than 30 other traffic sources through SafeSky Inside. These include gliders, drones and aircraft that do not send ADS-B. The screen is 3.4 inches wide. The battery lasts up to 8 hours, and the unit keeps running when plugged in by USB-C.
The device sends GDL 90 data over Wi-Fi to navigation apps. The site names SkyDemon, ForeFlight and EasyVFR. A pilot can turn it on, connect it and fly, with nothing to install in the aircraft. This lets a flying club move one unit between planes.
The company compares its device with two other options. Panel mount systems need installation and certification, and the aircraft is out of service while it is fitted. A phone alone has no dedicated display, has battery limits and gives no carbon monoxide check. SkyRecon sits between the two. It also has a setting for proximity warnings.
The company says its carbon monoxide sensor is not a certified detector. Pilots should still carry a certified one.
The website has a contact form for questions about the device, partnerships and pilot programmes. The company says it replies within one to two business days. A prize draw for a device is also running on the site.
