Skyband Systems
Resilient GPS-alternative navigation hardware for aircraft
About Skyband Systems
Skyband Systems builds navigation hardware for aircraft that fly where GPS is jammed or spoofed. The company is based in Kirkland, Washington, in the United States.
Its first product is the Skyband M100. It is a resilient position, navigation and timing unit, often called PNT. The M100 checks the aircraft's GPS against a separate layer. That layer uses low earth orbit satellite signals and onboard inertial sensing. GPS stays the main source of navigation. The M100 adds a second layer that can spot jamming and spoofing and warn the crew.
The unit is meant to work with the avionics and antennas already on the aircraft. This keeps retrofit work small and limits time on the ground. It installs as a single line replaceable unit. It needs little crew training, and software updates arrive over the air with no downtime. Pilots get real-time alerts, situational awareness and advice through an electronic flight bag display. The system supports crew judgment and does not replace pilot authority.
Skyband points to rising GPS interference as the reason for its work. It cites an OPSGROUP flight crew survey and Iridium signal data. It reports a 500 percent rise in GPS spoofing and about 1,500 flights affected each day. It also says 91 percent of crew rate their concern as moderate or higher. News from October 2026 says M100 production has begun, with business aviation as the first target. Certified customer units are set to ship in the first quarter of 2027.
The founders are former SpaceX leaders. The team has more than 30 years of combined SpaceX experience. It says it designed, built, integrated and scaled Starlink Aviation from a first customer install to more than 2,000 aircraft. That work covered many airliner and business jet types and included FAA engagement.
Skyband works with partners across satellite navigation and aircraft work. It is a certified Iridium PNT value added reseller. Aeromech provides MRO and ODA support for the M100. ADS-B Exchange supplies global ADS-B data. Buyers, resellers and partners can contact the company through its website.
