About Simtech Aviation

Simtech Aviation is a pilot training company near Dublin Airport in Ireland. It has trained airline pilots since 2001. It focuses on airline style training. The site says its graduates are hired by more than 70 airlines worldwide. The company says it has invested in new simulator facilities. It describes itself as an award winning center.

The company is an approved training organization, or ATO. It works with more than fifteen airlines. They fly three aircraft types, which are Boeing, Airbus and ATR. It received approval from the Irish Aviation Authority for multi-crew training in 2001.

Its main course is the APS MCC. This is a Multi-Crew Cooperation course that trains pilots to work in a team on the flight deck. APS stands for Airline Pilot Standard. The course meets EASA and UK CAA standards. Simtech also runs a standard EASA MCC course.

Simtech also gives ATR type ratings. A type rating is training to fly one model of aircraft. It offers wet and dry hire of simulators. Dry means the simulator without an instructor, and wet means with one.

The training center is a purpose built site of 1,860 square meters. It has a fixed base Boeing 737-800 simulator. It also has full motion simulators for the Airbus A320, the ATR72-600 and the ATR72-500. The Boeing unit has a full copy of the flight deck. The Boeing unit has simulated flight management, autopilot, flight director and autothrottle. It also models hydraulic, pneumatic and electric systems.

Instructors are airline and corporate jet pilots. Their credentials include MCC instructor, training captain, type rating instructor and type rating examiner. Some were chief airline pilots at their airlines. The site says this real world experience is what sets the instructors apart.

Cadets get guidance before, during and after their time at Simtech. The team advises them about upcoming first officer roles and about each airline's needs. The website lists courses, simulator facilities and a contact form for questions.
