Muirhead is a Scottish family business that makes luxury leather for aviation, passenger transport and interiors. The company says it has been making fine leather for over 180 years. It exports to more than 60 countries and describes its leather as the lowest carbon leather it can make.

Aviation leather is made to any colour, design and specification. The company runs a seat cover service for aviation and rail customers. Its process covers supply chain simplification, from leather to finished seat covers. The company sources locally, reclaims energy from waste and reuses water.

The Natural Performance Collection has 58 colours in four ranges: Grampian, Caledonian, Lustrana and Sateen. The leathers are durable and premium, with finishes that include pebbled grain and matt textures. Hides and samples can be ordered online in the United Kingdom, and international customers order through the sales team.

Muirhead tans leather with FreeTAN and BioTAN. FreeTAN replaces traditional tanning chemistry with compostable technology and removes chrome and glutaraldehyde. BioTAN is chrome free and has more bio based content.

BioPRO is a patented, moulded, protein based seat foam. It comes in densities from 47 to 90 kg per cubic metre and is moulded to shape. It is tested to CS and FAR 25.853 for burn resistance and is free of bromine, melamine and PFAS. Conventional cut foams can need 20 to 50 separate pieces, which BioPRO avoids.
