About Progressive Surface

Progressive Surface designs and builds machines that treat metal surfaces. Its equipment does shot peening, abrasive grit blasting, thermal spray coating and ultra high pressure waterjet stripping. The company says it has worked in this field since 1967. It serves the aerospace, energy, medical, military and general manufacturing industries.

Shot peening is a surface process that treats metal parts with small shot. Progressive offers a system called PRIMS Pro. It also offers rotary lance peening, custom robot integration and other special setups.

The company builds its machines for harsh, abrasive settings. It also makes a high enthalpy plasma torch, called the 100HE, and a powder feeder called LiquifeederHE. These are used in thermal spray coating, where a hot spray puts a layer on a part.

Progressive describes its design method as the Procise Process. It starts with a close look at the customer's needs. The team then designs the machine for that exact process and offers support for the life of the machine. Support staff are available around the clock. The company says 94 percent of its customers order from it again.

The company also does work in-house. Customers can use its surface treatment systems to meet short or long production needs, with quick turn-around times and to specification.

One article on the site covers aircraft parts. It explains that masking tools used during EB-PVD coating of aircraft components cost a lot. Waterjet removal of the coating can help extend the life of these tools and cut contamination.

The company says its machines are designed for engineers by engineers. A team of problem-solving engineers builds them. Progressive lists many firsts in its history, such as fitting automatic doors on multi-spindle rotary index machines. It also says it has designed, built and installed more systems than all its competitors combined. The website has pages on each process, industries served, a glossary of shot peening terms and a careers section.
