Pooleys Flight Equipment EU Limited

Pooleys supplies flying and navigation equipment to the aviation industry. The site says it has done this for seven decades. It serves pilots in all flying disciplines and lists over 2,850 products, including many well known aviation brands.

The range includes flight guides, headsets, aircraft accessories, GPS units, flight bags, pilot diaries, log books, carbon monoxide detectors and books. The shop also lists Garmin aviator smartwatches and headsets from Bose, Lightspeed and EPOS. Pooleys makes some items itself, such as knee boards and flight computers, and it publishes flight guides, airline pilot manuals and ground school material.

The site describes Pooleys as a family owned business. Robert Pooley founded it in 1957 after leaving the Royal Air Force, and his son Sebastian has run it since 2007. The timeline lists the first knee board in 1957, the first Flight Guide for Europe in 1962 and the first CRP-1 flight computer in 1964. The CRP-5 followed in 1966. It took over making the Aviat flight computers in 1995.

In 2023 the company launched the Pooleys Aviation Academy. This is a digital training platform for PPL(A), PPL(H) and NPPL(M) students and schools. A digital version of the flight guide, called Pooleys iPlates, is available as an app for Apple and Android.

Pooleys runs pilot shops at Cambridge, Cranfield, Elstree, Oxford and Turweston in the UK. It also opened shops in Johannesburg in 2002, Nairobi in 2021 and Dublin in 2023.
