About PIAP Space
PIAP Space designs and builds robotics solutions for space in Poland. It says its goal is to make space and Earth cleaner, safer and more sustainable.
The company offers research and development, design, manufacturing, assembly, integration and testing in robotics and mechatronics. It is especially interested in Active Debris Removal, manipulators and end-effectors, on-orbit satellite servicing, human-robot interaction, vision systems and mechanisms.
In robotic subsystems, the company makes grippers, force and torque sensors and robotic arms for satellite servicing. It has delivered seven grippers for security and defence and one gripper prototype for an Active Debris Removal mission. It builds equipment as part of the European space robotics cluster Per Aspera, so it fits a range of European solutions. For planetary robotics, it organises field tests and assembles and integrates subsystems for custom mobile robots. It also offers eight rover types to validate robotics technology.
The company also develops vision based navigation for rover, debris removal and precise landing missions. This covers algorithms, code, hardware and software co-design, and testing.
Its mechanical ground support equipment, or MGSE, helps assemble, integrate and test satellites. It includes ground handling adapters, vibration test adapters, integration stands, clamp bands, lifting devices and thermal vacuum compatible equipment. Equipment can be built to the ATEX directive on request. The company covers the full life cycle, from requirements to support during use.
Current projects include EROSS IOD, which started in 2023, ORBITA for modular grippers, TITAN for a satellite servicing robotic arm, PRO-ACT and an MGSE role on the ATHENA X-ray telescope mission for Thales Alenia Space Poland. It also works on RAVEN, a Polish in-space transportation vehicle that entered phase B1 in October 2025. In April 2026 the company reported an extra PLN 12 million from a capital increase by the Industrial Development Agency, ARP.
PIAP Space works with the European Space Agency, Horizon Europe, PERASPERA and the Łukasiewicz Research Network. Its quality system is certified to ISO 9001:2015.
