Pankl Turbosystems GmbH

Pankl Turbosystems GmbH was founded in 2009 in Mannheim, Germany. It is an ISO 9001 certified subsidiary of Pankl Racing Systems AG and is listed in the group's Racing division. The site text is in German.

The company develops, tests and makes charging systems. These are used in motorsport, high performance, commercial vehicle, off-road, aviation and fuel cell uses. Aviation is one of several sectors named, not the only one. Besides full development projects, it provides engineering services in design and simulation, and test services for conventional and electrically assisted charging systems.

The product list includes high performance turbochargers with wastegate or variable geometry control, multi-stage charging systems, electrically assisted turbochargers, electric compressors, turbocompound generators, fuel cell air supply systems and SiC inverters. The listed technologies are machining and additive manufacturing.

The development side covers the design and calculation of rotating and static parts, 3D and 2D design with parts lists, electrics and electronics for e-motors and power electronics, and validation on component and system test benches. The company works to the V-model, which links design closely to a design verification plan. Test facilities include a hot gas test stand combined with a battery simulator.

For assembly, the company builds prototypes and small series of up to 10,000 units. Parts are managed in an ERP system so each component can be traced. Balancing of single parts and of running units is included, with quality checks built in. Quality work uses ISO 9001 processes, an own material lab and non-destructive material testing.
