Operator XR
Virtual reality tactical training for military and law enforcement
About Operator XR
Operator XR delivers virtual reality training systems for military personnel and law enforcement officers. It was founded by special forces veterans, law enforcement training specialists and engineers, and applies tactical simulation to training. The company has offices in Australia and the United States, including 201 N. Union St, Suite 110, Alexandria, Virginia.
The training system
- A portable virtual reality environment in which users train operational tactics and procedures
- Scenarios across de-escalation tactics, use of force decision making and operational procedures
- Training that complements existing methods and lets users train more often, which the company says increases preparedness
- A system developed in house from the ground up with current immersive technology
Why it was built
Operator XR argues that military personnel, police and security guards routinely carry firearms and may face spontaneous use-of-force decisions with serious consequences, and that earlier virtual reality systems were too complex, not portable and not integrated with the soldier's own equipment. The company was created to address these challenges by combining immersive technology with real operational experience.
Team
The team combines special operations, tactical response, law enforcement, game design, software and hardware engineering, artificial intelligence and advanced analytics. More than 25% of the company are veterans, and others are former police and corrections officers. The company cites over 90 years of collective experience training police and military personnel and 7 years as a company in military simulation. Its engineering, sales and marketing teams are growing across the United States and Australia.
