OCR Aviation

OCR Aviation is an aircraft sales, maintenance and private FBO company at Long Beach Airport in Long Beach, California. The business began at the airport in 1983 as Tom's Aircraft, was acquired and rebranded as OCR Aviation in 2015, and has since added Citation maintenance (2016), a parts department and a fourth hangar. Craig Roah is founder and president, and the team includes four pilot sales staff, a director of maintenance, a maintenance inspector, a parts director and hangar management staff.

Aircraft sales

OCR sells and brokers piston, turboprop and jet aircraft, handles acquisitions and provides ownership consulting. Each listing on its inventory pages carries a description, specifications and photos; recent inventory has ranged from a Cherokee and a Saratoga to Cessna 182s, King Airs and a Citation Sovereign.

Cirrus aircraft

The current inventory includes Cirrus models: a 2001 Cirrus SR22 (N748CD) with a Garmin G5 upgrade and recently complied CAPS parachute, rocket and line cutter items, and a 2002 Cirrus SR20 (N243CD) with a full Garmin avionics package, listed as under contract at the time of writing. OCR sells Cirrus aircraft alongside other general aviation types.

Maintenance and parts

• FAA Part 145 repair station carrying out scheduled and unscheduled maintenance; its website describes it as a Textron Aviation Authorized Service Facility working on Textron singles, twins, turboprops and light jets, including King Airs, Cessna Caravans and more than 20 Citation Mustangs and CJs
• More than ten A&P mechanics trained by Textron, Garmin, Lycoming, Pratt & Whitney and Williams, with maintenance tracking through Traxxall and CAMP
• Sheet metal repairs, modifications including ThermaCool air conditioning for Cessna 182, 206 and Beechcraft models, Twin Cessna strakes and speed brakes, and JPI engine monitor installations
• Parts department with new, overhauled and as-removed parts, affiliated with Textron Aviation for Cessna and Beechcraft parts, next day delivery on orders placed before 5 pm and AOG support

Private FBO

The private FBO has over 60,000 square feet of hangar space across four hangars, a 35,000 square foot ramp with direct taxiway access, a kitchen, passenger lounge and secure parking. Hangar tenants and managed aircraft, from Cessna 206s to Phenom 300s, get aircraft management with insured pilots, maintenance tracking, staging, fuel requests, database updates and in-house detailing for aircraft from piston singles to heavy jets.
