Northland Community & Technical College

Northland Community & Technical College is a two-year community and technical college in northwestern Minnesota. It offers degrees, diplomas and training for students and local employers. The college has a campus in East Grand Forks.

Northland serves more than 3,200 students. The average class has 8 students, and the student-to-faculty ratio is 19 to 1. The average student is 24 years old. About 86 percent of students receive financial aid. The college says 75 percent of students are hired in their career within six months. It also says tuition costs on average 37 percent less than at four-year colleges. Minnesota's North Star Promise can help eligible students earn a degree tuition free.

Students can choose from more than 80 on-campus and online programs. Examples include Nursing, Physical Therapist Assistant, Radiologic Technology, Welding Technology, IT Cybersecurity, Computer and Network Technology, Early Childhood and Paraprofessional, Liberal Arts and Sciences, and a Criminal Justice transfer pathway. Programs lead to associate degrees and diplomas.

Workforce Development Solutions serves employers and working adults. It designs just-in-time training with industry experts and delivers it when and where a business needs it, in person or online. It also runs short skill-based courses that give continuing education credits and certificates of completion. Examples include nurse aide testing, CPR training, IV therapy labs and use-of-force training for peace officers.

The college has a Veterans Resource Center for military and veteran students. It helps with GI Bill benefits, other VA education programs, financial aid, disability support, counselling and tutoring. It reviews military transcripts so that students can receive credit for their training.

Student life includes housing options, a bookstore and an events calendar with performances, exhibitions and sports. Northland's athletic teams compete as the Pioneers. The college describes its aim as opportunity for all, whether a student is coming from high school, transferring or starting a new career.
