About Aurelia Institute

Aurelia Institute is a nonprofit space architecture research and development lab. It also runs an education and outreach center and a policy hub. Its office is in Central Square, Cambridge, Massachusetts. Its stated goal is to build humanity's future in space for the benefit of Earth.

The institute researches space habitats, including their structures, materials, technologies and in-space manufacturing. It says it aims to make larger habitats possible, so more people can take part in life in orbit. The site describes the team as engineers, architects, designers, scientists and policy thinkers.

The site lists several projects. These include TESSERAE Orbital Biolab, TESSERAE Self-Assembling Prototypes, TESSERAE Exhibition Pavilion, a space architecture trade study and a space garden. It also lists Aurelia Spinouts for new technologies that come from its work.

The institute says it creates intellectual property for public benefit. It shares that work through a collaborative model. The site also lists Aurelia Foundry VC and a Horizon Zero Gravity Program. The institute says it has regular spaceflight launches to test its engineering concepts.

Aurelia Academy offers courses, partnerships and outreach programs. The site says these help people of all ages and backgrounds take part in the space economy. The site also lists an Aurelia Prize in Design for Space Urbanism.

The policy arm looks at the challenges of a spacefaring society. These include AI and space technology, resource sharing in the space commons and governance for future human settlements.

The site says the institute's three core areas are space architecture research and development, education and outreach, and policy. It says space exploration is not about escaping Earth. The institute lists a contact page, an opportunities page for job openings and a donation page through Every.org. Media inquiries go through a separate contact. The site lists accounts on X, LinkedIn and Instagram.
