North Dakota UAS Council

The North Dakota UAS Council (ND UAS Council) is a statewide organisation dedicated to supporting and advancing the unmanned aircraft systems industry in North Dakota, a state that presents itself as a national leader in UAS research, testing and deployment. Its purpose is to promote and advocate for the UAS industry while connecting businesses, government representatives, researchers and innovators, and to provide ongoing opportunities for networking, information sharing and community outreach. The council was formed as a diverse and inclusive statewide body through which members share information and best practices, communicate the needs and goals of the industry, and advocate for the North Dakota UAS industry before the legislature and state agencies.

What the council does

• Advocacy for policies that support UAS development at state, regional and national levels, with members taking part in crafting and influencing policy directives and messaging
• Networking: quarterly meetings, an annual in-person meeting and networking event, and a bi-annual networking event with key industry members, legislators and government officials
• Quarterly updates on the local and national UAS industry, invitations to attend and speak at council-organised educational events with government and industry decision makers, and promotion of member successes through the council's social media and website
• Sub-committees on sectors including energy, agriculture, law enforcement, community safety and manufacturing, and promotion of North Dakota as a national hub for UAS research, testing and deployment

Membership

Membership levels accommodate organisations of different sizes and roles: a founding-level investment that secures a council board seat for five years and recognition at networking events, before reverting to the standard rate; an entrepreneurial and startup membership for early-stage companies; commercial membership for for-profit entities; a category for non-profit organisations and academic institutions; and sponsorship options. The council frames its work around expanding innovation, workforce development and policy leadership in unmanned systems.
