Nortavia is a flight school and aircraft maintenance organization at Vilar de Luz Aerodrome in Maia, Portugal. The aerodrome is about 20 minutes from Porto Airport, with direct flights across Europe. The company is a Cirrus Authorized Training and Service Center.
The flight school offers pilot training courses. Its introductory Voo Zero experience gives prospective students a first real flight in a light aircraft. The Student for a Day course includes a theory lesson and a one hour flight in a Cessna 152 with an instructor.
Nortavia is an EASA theory exam center in cooperation with Austro Control. It can host exams for ATPL, CPL, IR, EIR CBIR, PPL and LAPL. The company says Austro Control is responsible for running the exams under EU rules. Fees are 100 euros per exam for ATPL, MPL, CPL and IR, and 75 euros for PPL and LAPL.
As a Cirrus authorized service center, Nortavia maintains aircraft to the manufacturer's procedures and specifications. Maintenance work uses procedures and components approved by the manufacturer.
The company also offers continuing airworthiness management. It covers Cirrus, Cessna and Reims aircraft, including the Cessna 152 and 172, Beechcraft 33, Mooney M20 and M22, Robinson R22 and R44, and Tecnam P2006T. Other aircraft can be added on request.
Combining maintenance and airworthiness management helps reduce downtime and makes better use of aircraft hours, according to the company. Maintenance technician courses are also offered for people who want to work on aircraft.
