Norronafly Propeller & NDT

Norrønafly Propeller & NDT is a maintenance centre for aircraft propellers in Oslo, Norway. It also offers non-destructive testing, composite work and spare parts. The company gives advice so that customers can plan the most effective maintenance.

Its propeller service covers base maintenance and line maintenance, set up around what each customer needs. The company ships propellers fast and keeps exchange propellers ready, which helps keep turnaround times short. Service is also available around the clock, anywhere in the world. The team helps operators prevent corrosion on hubs and blades, a common reason costly propeller parts get scrapped.

The NDT team has more than 40 years of experience. Its inspectors are certified to the European standard EN4179. Methods include eddy current and conductivity testing, ultrasonic testing with conventional, phased array and bond methods, fluorescent penetrant testing, and magnetic particle testing with a fixed bench or a portable yoke. The company uses equipment from GE, Olympus, Chemetall, Britemor and Magnaflux.

Norrønafly holds a large stock of spare parts, mainly for propellers. It does minor repairs on site and reclassifies spare parts. Customers can choose repair, overhaul, standard exchange, rental or outright sale. An inventory and logistics department works with partners on cargo, packaging and freight to cut turnaround times and costs.

The company is a partner, licensed distributor and workshop for propeller makers around the world. They include Dowty, Hartzell, Hamilton, McCauley, MT-Propeller and Sensenich. It is also a recognised propeller service centre for Dowty propellers.

Norrønafly serves regional airlines, both passenger and cargo. Its main market is Northern Europe, and it supplies parts and repair and overhaul services worldwide. It has supported Norwegian with NDT since 1993. It maintains propellers on SAAB 340 aircraft for Fleet Air and works with customers such as LT Tech, Amapola Flyg, Arctic Maintenance, Sprint Air and MHS Aviation. Sprint Air flies ATR 72 and SAAB 340 aircraft.

About 18 to 20 people work in the company's workshop close to Oslo. DAO Aviation of Denmark is now a sister company. The link widens the services Norrønafly can offer to commercial, military and general aviation customers in Scandinavia.
