NASA

NASA is the United States space agency. Its website describes the organisation as pioneering the future in space exploration, scientific discovery and aeronautics research, and carries news, images and video from its missions. For the aviation sector the aeronautics work is the most direct link, with research such as pressure sensitive paint tests on a model wing and awards linked to vertical flight.

Missions and research

• Space exploration: the Artemis programme, with an Artemis II preliminary lunar science report, and work on batteries and heat shield technology for returning to the Moon
• Science missions: the Perseverance and Curiosity rovers on Mars, the SPHEREx and Chandra observatories, and Webb telescope observations
• Earth observation, including fire and hurricane imagery
• Aeronautics research, such as pressure sensitive paint tests on a model wing
• Moon landers: NASA JPL has been testing a lunar lander built by Voyager Technologies

Public programmes

NASA publishes an A to Z list of missions and a section on the search for life in the universe. It takes requests for exhibits, artifacts, speakers and flyovers. Education programmes include design challenges for students, such as the Human Lander Challenge on lunar communications and a middle school design challenge, and live sessions in which astronauts answer questions from students.

Events

NASA is listed as a sponsor of the 28th ISABE Conference 2027 and ASME Turbo Expo 2027. It is also listed at Small Satellite Conference 2027, AIAA SciTech Forum 2027, IEEE Aerospace Conference 2027 and the VFS Transformative Vertical Flight 2027 meeting.
