Nara Space

Nara Space Technology Inc. is a Korean space technology company that describes itself as Korea's only integrated satellite service provider, covering satellite development, satellite imagery and image analysis. Based on the 14th and 15th floors of 632 Gukhoe-daero, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, it sells standard satellites built on space-proven platforms, develops custom satellites and operates a satellite imagery platform and analysis services, drawing on the flight heritage of its Observer-1A satellite. The company publishes an English and Korean brochure, an Earthpaper publication and investor relations material.

Missions and programmes

Nara Space launched GYEONGGISat-2A, Korea's first methane-monitoring satellite and the world's fourth of its kind, aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 and achieved telecommand and telemetry communication; the satellite uses a hyperspectral sensor to detect methane sources. It also established communication with E3T-2, a space verification satellite launched on Korea's NURI-5 rocket that carries domestic components including Samsung DRAM and NAND flash memory to verify their performance in orbit. The company has been selected to lead a KRW 6.7 billion defence innovation project under KRIT running to 2030 to develop autonomous satellite proximity operations, including onboard processing for recognising and approaching space objects. Services extend to space mission support and satellite imagery analysis.
