MT-Propeller

MT-Propeller Entwicklung GmbH is a propeller manufacturer based at Straubing-Wallmühle Airport (EDMS) in Atting, Bavaria, Germany. Gerd Mühlbauer founded the company in 1981 with six employees in a small airport building that is still part of the site. MT-Propeller makes natural composite propellers with two to seven blades for aircraft up to 5,000 hp, as well as propellers for airships, hovercraft and wind tunnels. The group employs about 280 people at the airport, at a blade production center five miles away, at Avia Propeller in Prague and at its own service stations in Florida and Canada.

Cirrus

The STC list on the site includes these Cirrus installations: SR20 with the 3-blade MTV-12-D/188-59() or MTV-9-B/188-50(); SR22 with the 3-blade MTV-9-D/198-52() or the 4-blade MTV-14-D/195-30b; and SR22T with the 4-blade MTV-14-D/195-30() or the 3-blade MTV-9-D/198-58(). In September 2026 the company announced that Cirrus had named it Supplier of the Year 2026 after MT delivered more than 600 of its 3- and 4-blade propellers for the SR20, SR22 and SR22T within one year of the start of the cooperation. The site also carries owner testimonials for the SR20 with a 3-blade propeller and the SR22 with the 4-blade MTV-14.

Service

Maintenance, repair and overhaul at the German headquarters is handled by MT-Propeller Gerd Mühlbauer GmbH, which carries out inspections, overhauls, STC guidance, dynamic balancing at EDMS and exchange propellers and governors to reduce downtime. For North American customers there are MT-Propeller service centers in DeLand, Florida and Murillo, Ontario, plus more than 60 approved service stations worldwide. A hangar at the airport is used for fitting propellers directly to customer aircraft.

Facility

A high-tech centre built in 2024 at the airport produces all metal parts for the propellers and adds assembly, shipping and training space. The blade production center five miles from the airport makes the natural composite blades. The company was ranked among the ten strongest midsized companies in Bavaria in 2026 by the SZ Institute.
