About MotionXP

MotionXP builds 6DOF motion simulators for flying and racing. 6DOF means six degrees of freedom, which the site explains as three rotations and three movements. The simulators are sold as kits for home builders, and the company also sells a version that is almost ready to use.

There are two models, the Prime and the Bumble. The Prime has an actuator stroke of 620 mm, 725 mm of total heave, 32 degrees of roll and 35 degrees of pitch. The Bumble has a 420 mm stroke and 480 mm of heave. The home page lists prices from EUR 11,200 before tax and shipping. The site says buyers get motion files that are already set up, so they do not need to fix software problems.

The founder says his interest in simulation began in 1998. In 2016 he flew DCS with a virtual reality headset and found that nothing moved. He built a first 6DOF rig in 2019. In 2022 he designed a kit version, and the Prime prototype followed at the start of 2023. A customer note says the rig works with MSFS 2020, MSFS 2024 and DCS.

The company also built custom actuators for ForWind, which used a six actuator platform to copy the movements of a floating wind turbine. The home page shows over 152 customers, with pages of customer comments. Users share help on a Discord community. A notice on the site says global conflicts have doubled shipping time to Europe from one month to two.
