Morpheus Space
GO-2 FEEP electric propulsion for small satellites, made in Dresden
About Morpheus Space
Morpheus Space develops electric propulsion for satellites. Its GO-2 system uses FEEP (field emission electric propulsion) technology developed at the Technical University of Dresden in 2018, and the company is based in Dresden, Germany, with a US office opened in 2021. Morpheus Space was founded in 2018 from a TU Dresden laboratory, joined the first Techstars Starburst Space Accelerator in Los Angeles in 2019, raised seed funding in 2020 and closed a 28 million dollar Series A in 2022 with investors including Alpine Space Ventures, Lavrock Ventures, Airbus Ventures and In-Q-Tel. In 2024 it opened Reloaded, a mass-production facility in Dresden for GO-2 systems.
GO-2 electric propulsion
- Each GO-2 unit contains 40 individual thrusters, each with its own propellant tank and independent thrust control, for redundancy and precise manoeuvring
- Modular unit of about 1U in size, supporting spacecraft from 6U upwards; several units can be combined, and a GO-2 Estimator tool on the site works out how many a satellite needs
- Solid metallic propellant with zero leakage, no moving parts, no chemicals and no pressurisation
- Continuous thrust with high total impulse, giving mobility for the whole mission life
- Plug-and-play integration
The system covers constellation deployment, repositioning, station keeping, collision avoidance and deorbiting. A spec sheet is available on request.
Track record
Morpheus Space's core technology has been in orbit since 2018 and has supported commercial customer missions since 2023. The company reports the first in-space test of a nanosatellite propulsion system and the first nanosatellite collision avoidance manoeuvre. Alongside the hardware it offers mission design and analysis software through its Journey platform.
