MMA Space
Deployable solar arrays, antennas and structures for small satellites

About MMA Space
MMA Space designs, builds and tests deployable space hardware in-house at its 43,000 square foot facility at 1755 W. 160th Avenue, Suite 800, Broomfield, Colorado. Working on space deployables since 2007, the company reports more than 19 years of flight heritage, more than 30 missions on orbit and a 100 percent deployment success rate. It is AS9100 certified, ITAR compliant and a Northrop Grumman strategic supplier, with customers including NASA, DARPA, start-ups, legacy primes and NewSpace companies, and a team with more than 300 years of combined space industry experience.
Products
- Space solar arrays, including the HaWK family, offering customisable power solutions for every mission, orbit and spacecraft platform with high watts per cubic metre and per kilogram and low cost per watt
- Space antennas built on membrane architectures with larger apertures and reduced complexity, including DaHGR synthetic aperture radar antennas, for which a contract with a European customer was announced in September 2026
- Deployable structures: booms, instrumentation booms, deorbit systems and structures that stow small and deploy reliably
- Membrane optics such as a deployable photon sieve developed with AFRL to demonstrate large-aperture telescope technology for imaging the sun
Flight heritage
MMA HaWK solar arrays powered the MarCO CubeSats, the first interplanetary CubeSat mission, which relayed real-time data during the Mars InSight landing, as well as a precision astrophysics CubeSat demonstration and an enhanced HaWK on a Department of Defense mission launched in August 2021. The company supplied an antenna for DARPA's high-speed LEO network constellation, hardware for Arizona State University's LunaH-Map mission launched in November 2022 to search for hydrogen at the Moon's south pole, two antennas launched on a pair of identical satellites in 2026, and deployable instrumentation booms for the MagQuest challenge entries of CU Boulder and Spire, both deployed on orbit in 2026.
Capabilities
The Broomfield facility has 30 ft ceilings, a visibly clean assembly, integration and test lab, a gravity offload area, electronics fabrication and test space, seven CNC machines running simultaneously and capacity to manufacture and assemble 75 units in parallel for constellation-scale production. In-house capabilities cover mechanical design, structural, dynamic and thermal analysis, high-strain composites, rapid prototyping, materials selection, deorbit analysis using NASA's General Mission Analysis Tool, and functional, gravity offload, structural, thermal and vacuum testing by J-Standard certified technicians.
