About Mission Systems

Mission Systems is a robotics company in Lane Cove West, New South Wales. It develops machine intelligence and smart sensing for autonomous systems in the air, at sea and on land. The company turns its research into products. Its tagline is Autonomy on board. The company was founded in 2017.

Its capabilities cover sensing, including compact radar and RF sensing. They also cover autonomy for unmanned vehicles, machine learning, modelling and simulation, and hardware development. Hardware work includes electronics prototyping. The website says the company aims to apply academic research to real world problems in diverse markets.

The company focuses on creating intellectual property and bringing it to market. Its work covers autonomy, sensing and perception in the air, sea and land domains. It says it values ideas and know how above all else, and that it works to help customers reach their mission goals.

The company's co founders have backgrounds in maritime robotics, computational acoustics, signal processing, and radar and RF sensing. One co founder previously led an unmanned systems and autonomy group in the DST Maritime Division. Radar work includes small target detection in clutter and compact millimetre wave radar for mine automation.

The company has received recognition. It is an accredited NVIDIA Inception member and an Epic MegaGrants recipient. It was selected for the AUKUS Maritime Innovation Challenge, and it sponsored MOOS-DAWG 26 at MIT. It also took part in an ASCA pitch day, where one of its team won the trophy.
