Micro Nav is a UK company that develops air traffic control simulators and training systems for civil and military customers. It was founded in 1988 by two air traffic controllers, Mike Male and Fred Johnson, and is based in Bournemouth, England.

Products

Its BEST simulation range, now sold as the MicroNav Simulation Suite, covers several controller roles.

• Tower simulation, including ground operations and runway management, with 2D and 3D views
• Radar simulation for approach and en route training
• Fighter and air battle control for military users
• MicroNav Insights, an analytics tool that records performance during exercises
• Airport 3D model creation tools

Customers

Micro Nav sells to air navigation service providers, military organisations, airports and training academies worldwide. Indra reported that more than half of its sales come from the Middle East. The company has won a Queen's Award for Enterprise for exports.

Training approach

The suite covers training from initial qualification to operational readiness. It can also be used to test airspace and procedure changes before they go live, and it can connect to operational equipment so controllers practise on the same screens they use at work.

Ownership

Indra, the Spanish technology group, agreed to buy Micro Nav and Global ATS from Quadrant Group, and the deal completed in March 2025. The Micro Nav website now redirects to the simulation pages of Indra Air Traffic.
