About Michelin Aircraft Tire

Michelin Aircraft is the aircraft tire business of the Michelin Group. Its site, aircraft.michelin.com, says it provides radial and bias tires and tubes for aviation customers around the world, in commercial and regional airlines, general aviation and military aviation. Michelin states that it has more than 50 years' experience serving the global commercial and regional aviation industry, that it introduced the first radial aircraft tire in 1981, and that its customers include aircraft manufacturers such as Boeing, Airbus and COMAC and airlines such as Air France, Singapore Airlines, Emirates and Delta Air Lines.

Products

  • Air X Sky Light: a new generation aircraft tire that Michelin describes as lighter and longer lasting at the same level of safety
  • Air: a bias tire positioned as a balance of performance and durability
  • Air X: Michelin's radial aircraft tire
  • Pilot: a high performance bias tire for piston and turboprop aircraft
  • Airstop, Aviator and Condor tires, plus tubes

The site has a "Find your tire" tool and a dealer locator, and a page on its warranty. The market segment pages cover commercial, general aviation and military customers.

Cirrus

Michelin's press site (michelinmedia.com) announced in January 2020 that the Michelin Pilot tire had been selected as original equipment for Cirrus Aircraft: the SR Series, including the SR20, SR22 and SR22T, and the Cirrus Trac training aircraft, for the nose and main fitments. Cirrus had been using the Michelin Air tire and switched to the Pilot. Michelin describes the Pilot as a bias tire for piston and turboprop aircraft with a deeper skid depth for more takeoffs and landings, which it says matters for flight training aircraft. The same release says Michelin equips over half of all new general aviation aircraft. Cirrus owners looking for replacement tires can use the tire finder and dealer locator on the site.

Services

The Michelin Learning Academy is an online training platform for aircraft tire maintenance, with Basic and Expert modules designed by Michelin specialists; an e-learning catalogue is available as a PDF on the services page. The site also publishes news, documents and downloads, and describes a partnership with Kristal.air.
