Mermoz Academy

Mermoz Academy is a French school that trains airline pilots and cabin crew, and describes itself as the first French school for airline pilot and cabin crew training. According to its website it has trained more than 60,000 flight personnel since 1957, and its training centre is at 12 rue de Longjumeau in Rungis, near Orly. Its former name was the Institut Aeronautique Jean Mermoz, and all its bases are located near an airport.

Pilot training

• Integrated ATP airline pilot training, completed in 24 months, for students who join without experience
• Modular and supported airline pilot routes, and ATPL theory taught on site or by distance learning, with textbooks available in an English version
• PPL(A) private pilot licence training, plus PPL and LAPL for aeroplanes and helicopters as e-learning approved by the DGAC
• MCC and APS crew work courses, a preparatory course for airline pilot selection, the aeronautical initiation certificate BIA, and training for CPL(A) theory based on 13 certificates

Cabin crew training

The school prepares students for the Cabin Crew Attestation, issued under both DGAC and EASA rules, which it describes as the state diploma for commercial cabin crew. The DGAC course combines three weeks of classroom theory, 105 hours, or six weeks of distance theory, 120 hours, with eight days of practical training.

Services for airlines

Mermoz Academy has trained managers and future employees for airlines worldwide. Its new Orly-Rungis training centre can be booked with simulators and training areas that it says are unique in France. Courses for airlines include the CQP PNC cabin crew professional qualification, passenger behaviour training for unruly passengers, recurrent training for pilots and cabin crew, safety management system training, and team building days on a simulated cockpit or cabin flight, organised with the company SYNRJY.

Admission

Applicants need a class 1 medical certificate for pilot courses, and the school invites prospective students to visit its campus or join open days. It says its team replies to contact requests within 72 hours.
