About Maxcraft Avionics

Maxcraft Avionics repairs, sells and installs aircraft avionics and flight instruments from Pitt Meadows Regional Airport in British Columbia, Canada. The company says it has built its business over more than 20 years. It serves private pilots as well as operators of commercial fleets.

The company describes its Vancouver area facility as the largest avionics repair shop in Canada. It says it employs more avionics technicians than any other Canadian shop. Couriers bring in specialised parts every day from Europe, the USA and across Canada. Upstairs, bench repair teams test and fix flight instruments and avionics from around the world. The company also says it has more than 20,000 avionics parts in stock and invested over half a million dollars in custom test equipment.

The avionics repair department covers transponders, weather radars, aircraft radios and helicopter accessories. It lists work on Rockwell Collins Proline, Honeywell and Bendix/King equipment. It also names Sikorsky S76 and S61 and Bell 212 flight control system repair, caution panels and landing lights. The instrument department repairs gyros, navigation instruments such as HSI, CDI, RMI and ADI units, and airspeed, attitude and altitude instruments. It also repairs engine indicators, tach generators, clocks and fuel gauges for fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters.

Maxcraft installs avionics in many types of aircraft. Its installation work includes custom glass flight instrument panels, commercial aircraft avionics, general aviation avionics, helicopter installations, complete aircraft rewires and homebuilt aircraft. It also offers design services and sells parts and new products. The company says it is the largest Garmin avionics dealer in Canada and an authorised representative of more than 30 of the world's top avionics brands. Customers can try Aspen, Garmin and Lightspeed demo units at the shop, and the company offers a free consultation for aircraft owners who are thinking about an upgrade.

Maxcraft holds a Transport Canada approved maintenance organisation certificate, AMO 33-90, covering aircraft, avionics, structures, components and instruments. It also holds a Transport Canada aeronautical products distributor approval and an FAA repair station equivalent approval under 14 CFR 43.17.

The company has been run by pilots from the start. About 25 percent of its staff are licensed pilots, so the team understands what aircraft owners need. Recent projects include a Piper Malibu upgrade and a 10-year King Air 350 medevac fleet modernisation.
