About London Air Ambulance Charity

London's Air Ambulance Charity is a registered charity that delivers an advanced trauma team to critically injured people in London. It uses a helicopter from 8am to sunset. At night or in bad weather, it uses rapid response cars.

The site says its doctors, paramedics and pilots carry out procedures usually found in emergency departments, on scene. Examples include open chest surgery, blood transfusions and general anaesthetic. The charity was founded in 1989 after a report by the Royal College of Surgeons.

The site says the charity treated 2,031 patients in 2025, an average of six patients each day. It reports 52,000 patients treated in total. The average flight time is 7.5 minutes.

The charity is funded by public donations and fundraising. The site says 95 percent of its funding relies on public support. It works closely with the NHS but is not an NHS organisation. Its Physician Response Unit moved to the NHS on 1 April 2026, after 24 years of operation.

Fundraising options include events, a weekly lottery with a chance to win 1,000 pounds, a black and white gala and giving in memory. The 2026 gala raised 1.5 million pounds, according to the site. The charity also uses volunteers.

The site lists 5th Floor, 77 Mansell Street, London E1 8AN as its address. The supporter care phone line is 0203 023 3300. The charity is on Facebook, X, Instagram, YouTube and LinkedIn.
