L-3 Aviation Products

L-3 Aviation Products was the avionics business of L-3 Communications and later L3Harris, known for flight recorders, cockpit displays and aircraft surveillance equipment. Its main site is in Grand Rapids, Michigan. That business is now part of Acron Aviation, which was created in 2025.

What changed

L-3 Technologies merged all its aviation businesses into L3 Commercial Aviation Solutions in 2018 and combined with Harris in 2019. In 2025 L3Harris sold Commercial Aviation Solutions to TJC, formerly The Jordan Company, for up to $800 million. The business now operates as Acron Aviation.

Customers and heritage

Acron Aviation supplies US military programmes, aircraft makers, airlines, business aviation operators and helicopter programmes. It reports more than 130,000 recorders, displays and processors delivered and over 60 years of avionics experience, with roots in the Learjet avionics group set up in 1960.

Support

Acron Aviation runs an avionics support organisation that handles repairs, spares and technical publications across the product life. The company also sells aftermarket parts through its Skyparts service.
