Kasaero

Kasaero GmbH is an aircraft engineering office near Stuttgart, Germany. It designs, builds and certifies aircraft and aircraft parts, with a focus on fibre composite structures. Its motto is "From Sketch to Sky": the team takes projects from the first concept study through prototypes, tests and certification to series production.

Services

• Research and development: finite element analysis (FEMAP and NX Nastran), CFD with OpenFOAM, performance analysis
• Design: concept and preliminary design, airfoil design, CAD in Siemens NX and SolidWorks, composite structures, flight controls and systems
• Integration of electric and hybrid propulsion for CS-22 and CS-23 aircraft
• Certification: requirements management, means of compliance, strength proofs, functional hazard analyses, ground and flight tests
• Manufacturing: moulds and tooling, composite prototypes in house, small series, and series production with partner M&D Flugzeugbau (EASA Part 21G)
• Testing: limit and ultimate load tests, functional tests, material tests, flight test campaigns

Approvals and experience

Kasaero's engineers work as compliance verification engineers and design engineers in M&D Flugzeugbau's EASA Part 21J design organisation. The company lists experience with EASA CS-22, CS-23, CS-VLA, CS-LSA, LTF-UL and JARUS-SORA, and with EASA, FAA, DULV and CAAC rules. It reports more than 30 certified projects and a network of over 50 specialists on call.

Projects

• HYFLY: a hydrogen electric propulsion platform for light aircraft. The HYFLY H167 flew for the first time on a DS-2C/HY test aircraft and won the Sustainable Aviation Award 2023
• Junkers A50 Junior: from kick-off to first flight in under 18 months, then type approval and an LSA version
• MDA1 eViator electric aircraft, with Piper Deutschland AG as a new investor
• Support for Eviation Alice, Dornier Seastar, Grob Aircraft, the JS1 Revelation glider, the protex.one UAV and the e-Genius electric aircraft
• Member of THE aerospace LÄND partner network and the LuFo Klima research project on a modular hydrogen drive for ultralight aircraft
